Of God, and little things

God never says that do not take pleasure in the smaller things in life. How many times do we have the grand occasions to celebrate? Not much in one’s life. So do we keep waiting for the big things to happen? I do not think so.
We are waiting for that promotion, which is either not happening, or is taking longer than expected. So, do we make a forlorn face and get frustrated with almost everything around? Or, do we take pleasure in doing something else we have not done in a while, but we like doing? Like making that wonderful cup of coffee. Or, playing a game of rugby or cricket with our son or daughter. Or, going for that trek that we had kept postponing. The list is endless. Maybe the promotion can wait for a while.
By God’s grace, life is filled with a trove of those wonderful treasures, not gold, that will give you immense satisfaction. More than the most crucial things in life. More often than not, I have felt that returning to the basics takes that pressure of our chest, and lets us vent steam that has built in our system.
What can those activities be? Anything that you like. Even leaving that big car back home, and taking that stroll by the countryside. Or going to your favorite place as a child. Or, reading books that you used to do as a teenager, or saying hello to that long lost friend of your’s. Or, paying homage to God for giving you what you have got in your life. Do think of the positives that he has bestowed upon you, and pray to him to negate all the bads that have happened to you.
Finally, think of life as a wonderful journey, filled with adventure, and have faith in Him, for He has given you so much to cheer for and to celebrate, than a few bad patches that you encounter once in a while.
Amen. God bless!
