Can we root out corruption?

As I read about the corruption charges on Chinese officials, I have a few thoughts in my mind.
Can we absolutely remove corruption from politics? In an era, where greed rules, and everybody wants to have a bit of that pie, despite the stories of saint-hoods that we hear, rare individuals can claim that they are squeaky clean. If we dig a little deeper we find that most have some skeleton in their closet.
When I see the media doing its bit to reveal the stories of corruption and wrong doing against somebody, and in full glory, I sometimes feel if the media itself is devoid of corruption.
Is revealing the horror stories of people indulging in scam, rape, or other wrong doing, and leaving all that filth in the memories of general masses doing any good? Or, is it creating a psyche of hatred against certain individuals who are picked and chosen, it seems, just as a matter of convenience to do some witch-hunting.
Things like Wikileaks, the investigative journalism, are more of sensationalization, where the media goes overboard, and makes sure that the death knell is put on the individuals chosen to be exposed. When the entire world seeks material success over a host of other things, including bending a little to get that wealth, how come exposing a few people make any difference to what has become a way of life?
When I read about saintly people trying to root out corruption, I can only think, maybe not in this life. But anyway, give it a try to learn that things that are deep-rooted, cannot be eliminated in one life time.
It feels good to hear about good things, but most of them are just good reads. Life’s practicalities are completely opposite of what these reads sound to be. For a metaphor, under that glossy cover, you will always find a host of attractive bare-bodied females, the lure of which is undeniable.
What should we do in this case? I feel that we need to draw a line with what we are comfortable doing, and to what extent. You cannot totally rule out wrong doing from the world, which even the spiritual scriptures say. The world is always half-negative, and half positive, the Yin and the Yang, and it is the balance of the Yin and the Yang that keeps the universe going.
So here’s a toast to the eternal fight between the good and the evil. The party is always on. Have fun while it lasts!
