Getting Started with goPaddle

To get started with goPaddle, please subscribe to the goPaddle portal at gopaddle.io.

Pre-requisites for Installing goPaddle

Create a Cloud Account for On-boarding

Register the cloud accounts that you wish to use with goPaddle.

Once you sign-in as a goPaddle user:

  1. Register the infrastructure and platform cloud accounts using the Settings tab
  2. Discover the virtual machines and applications within these cloud accounts

Note: For detailed information on registering cloud accounts check the cloud account registration section.

Discover the Virtual Machines Managed by Cloud Accounts

Discover all the virtual machines managed by the cloud accounts. If a goPaddle agent is installed on a virtual   machine, all the application stacks on these virtual machines are also discovered. Once the virtual machines are discovered, they are listed on the Virtual Machine tab.

Note: Only virtual machines in a running state are listed on the goPaddle portal.

Install the goPaddle Agent

To install the goPaddle agent:

  1. Migrate the virtual machines to the source virtual machines
  2. Prepare the target virtual machines on the target platform
  3. Dockerize applications on the source virtual machines
  4. Launch the blueprint virtual machines on the target platform
  5. Lunch the blueprint on the Kubernetes cluster

Note I: goPaddle agent can also be installed automatically using the goPaddle portal.

For installing the goPaddle agent automatically:

  • Click on the Install goPaddle Agent tab

Note II: For more information on installing the goPaddle agent check the agentInstall section.

Prepare Target Virtual Machines

Optionally prepare the target virtual machines before deployment. This prepares the virtual machines with base docker images. It also saves time for multiple blueprint deployments.
